Silver Strand Art Group – Hauser & Wirth Art Gallery Tour
On Saturday, April 15, the Silver Strand Art Group went to the Hauser & Wirth Art Gallery in the Los Angeles downtown Arts District. We had a wonderful docent, Sarah, who helped us understand the world created by the artist, Jason Rhoades who died in 2006 at age forty one.
Amidst all the chaos of the installation, we started to understand the artistic effort displayed before us. The four spacious galleries allowed us to see the change from his yellow Marilyn Monroe period, to the neon glare of his later work.
After the tour, we walked a short distance in the arts district to Umani Burger, where we enjoyed a delicious lunch together.
It was a great day and we hope to see you at the next Silver Strand Art Group tour.
Thanks go to Angela Durrant for booking our time at the gallery, to Clarissa Cervantes for making many calls and emails for our lunch arrangements, to Marilee Karlsen for the email announcements and setting up the carpools, to Nora Nicosia for her continued support, and for the Silver Strand News for continuing their wonderful reporting to our community.
