The third Silver Strand “Books in the Afternoon Book Club” met at Nora Nicosia’s house on Tuesday April 10th. Our selected book was the best seller The Woman in the Window by A. J. Finn. It was a whodunit with twists and suspense. It is an easy read—some even found themselves getting up early on a Sunday morning to find out the ending. Besides dealing with a murder a la Hitchcock “Rear Window,” the book dealt with grief and agoraphobia. One member thought the book read like a screenplay and in fact the book has been optioned to become a movie. This is the author’s first book although he is an accomplished book editor. We voted the book 3.5 out of 5 stars.
The group has expanded to a perfect size of seven or eight. We now plan to meet every five weeks—two months is too long to wait. Our next meeting will be Tuesday May 15th at 3 pm at Nora’s house on Spinnaker. The book selected is Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate. This book received a high rating on Amazon by over 6,141 readers.
We have also selected Mary Coin: A Novel by Marisa Silver for June in case you want to read along with us.
