Tour of Historic Los Angeles – Photos

Photos of the Silver Strand Art Group Tour of Historic Los Angeles – November 5, 2016

We began the tour in Pershing Square where we viewed buildings in styles that changed through the history of Los Angeles. It was a wonderful day.

We explored some of L.A.’s most beloved landmarks, such as the Central Library and the Bradbury Building.

We heard many comments about how fun it was to be tourists in our own city. The tour ended in a private room at the historic Cliftons Cafeteria.

Cultural tips #4

Submitted by Clarissa Cervantes and Nora Nicosia

I again visited the LA Louver Art Gallery at 45 North Venice Blvd (please see Cultural Tips #2 for basic information). We enjoyed validated parking for free in the lot across the street.

They have an outstanding group exhibit of the work of well known contemporary artists from around the world. The prices ranged from the lowest at $20,000 to the highest at $125,000. Although I was only familiar with 3 of the artists it was a fascinating exhibit. The exhibit ends on November 5th and the next exhibit is called Roll Call. It will feature 11 artists from LA (including David Hockney) and runs from November 16th – January 14th.

Also again visited the Shulamit Nazarian Gallery at 17 N. Venice Blvd., which has an interesting exhibit. The two galleries are so close, which makes for a fun art day.

I would also recommend “A Taste of Honey” at the Odyssey Theatre at 2055 S. Sepulveda Blvd. (just north of Olympic). The play was written by playwright Shelagh Delaney when she was only 18 years old and she is now a grown woman. It covers many interesting topics, relevant today, about mother daughter relationships. It runs until November 27th.

They have a discount for a series of 6 plays for $145 and with that you also receive 4 half priced tickets. You can choose your plays during a whole year or even longer. The website for the Odyssey Theatre  is www.odysseytheatre.com.
