Damage to Spinnaker Mall and Threat to Adjacent Malls

Concerned About the Recent Damage to Spinnaker Mall and Threat to Adjacent Malls?

If you have walked the beautifully landscaped and maintained malls in our neighborhood recently, or you live on or adjacent to Spinnaker Mall, you may have noticed that Spinnaker Mall is now in terrible shape with numerous large bare patches, torn up grass, and extensive damage to some of the planted areas.   This untoward situation is the result of mistreatment by an organized group of children playing soccer and other games on Spinnaker Mall twice a week (Monday and Thursday afternoons) under the direction of a paid coach/instructor.  Some of the children participating in the group live in the Silver Strand while others appear to live elsewhere.  A few Silver Strand homeowners have approached some of the parents whose children participate in the activity, as well as the coach/instructor, and asked them to move the group off the Malls due to the damage that the group has caused to Spinnaker Mall (Reef Mall is now also being damaged as the group has recently relocated from Spinnaker to Reef).  Those requests have been met with hostility, and the activity and related damage to the malls continue, all at significant cost to the members of the HOA who pay to maintain them.

We all use and appreciate the malls, and we hope everyone will show full consideration to using the malls in a manner that respects the landscaping and preserves the beauty for all to enjoy.

This issue will also be addressed at the next meeting of the Board of Directors of the Silver Strand Homeowners’ Association which will take place (virtually) on May 10, 2021.

If you are concerned about the condition of Spinnaker Mall, and the possible threat to adjacent malls, and you wish to discuss this issue with the Board and your fellow homeowners, please “attend” the next Silver Strand Homeowners’ Association Board meeting.
